Your puppy's first grooming prep plan
Puppyhood is the easiest time to build grooming skills. A few minutes a day of gentle, treat-filled handling sets up a lifetime of easier grooms.
Skills to build early
- Being touched all over: paws, ears, mouth and tail.
- Standing calmly on a non-slip raised surface.
- Hearing a clipper or dryer running nearby.
- Short brushing sessions, belly included.
Keep it fun
- Keep sessions to a minute or two, and stop before your puppy gets wiggly.
- Ask groomers about short intro visits before the first full groom.
